The University of Connecticut women’s basketball team continues to prove why it is one of the most dominant forces in college basketball. On February 8th, the Huskies won a decisive victory over conference rival Providence College, with a final score of 87-50.
From the start, UConn demonstrated its superior skill and athleticism, scoring 28 points in the first quarter alone. The Huskies’ trademark suffocating defense held Providence to just 10 points in that same quarter.
Leading the charge for UConn was junior guard Christyn Williams, who tallied 26 points and 6 rebounds on the night. Williams’s scoring prowess was complemented by a strong performance from freshman forward Aaliyah Edwards, who scored 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.

But through strong leadership and smart recruiting, UConn has once again proven that it is a team to be reckoned with. The Huskies currently hold a 17-1 record and are ranked No. 3 in the nation by both the Associated Press and Coaches polls.
Looking ahead, UConn has several tough conference matchups on the horizon, including matchups with the likes of Villanova and Marquette. But if their latest game against Providence is any indication, the Huskies are more than up to the challenge. With a deep bench and a cohesive team mentality, UConn is poised for yet another impressive season.
