As the UConn women’s basketball team prepares for their upcoming matchup against the Baylor Lady Bears, head coach Geno Auriemma has been spending plenty of time strategizing and reviewing game footage with his players.

In an interview with ESPN, Auriemma spoke about the importance of taking a focused approach to this game. “You can’t let emotions get the best of you in a game like this,” he said. “It’s important to stay disciplined and execute our game plan. We need to play our game, not theirs.”

One key area of focus for the Huskies will be perimeter defense. Baylor has a talented backcourt, including guards Kristen Nymeyer and Moon Ursin, who have both been averaging around 15 points per game this season. UConn will need to work hard to limit their opportunities and keep them from getting hot from beyond the arc.

In addition to defense, Auriemma emphasized the importance of patience and staying focused on each possession. “We can’t get ahead of ourselves,” he said. “We need to take each play one at a time and make sure we’re executing to the best of our ability.”

Of course, UConn has some star power of their own with players like Paige Bueckers and Olivia Nelson-Ododa leading the way. Auriemma will look to their leadership and skill on the court to help guide the team to victory.

The matchup between UConn and Baylor is sure to be an exciting one, and both teams will be looking to gain an edge over their opponent. But with Auriemma’s strategic approach and the impressive talent of UConn’s roster, the Huskies are poised to come out on top.
