Former UNC basketball standout, Sean May, has returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach. May, who played for the Tar Heels from 2002-2005, was a member of the 2005 national championship team and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.

May went on to have a successful professional career, playing six seasons in the NBA and overseas. He also spent time as a player development coach with the Charlotte Hornets before joining the UNC coaching staff.

May’s return to UNC has been eagerly anticipated by Tar Heel fans. He is remembered as a tenacious rebounder and skilled scorer during his playing days. As an assistant coach, May will bring his experience and knowledge of the game to help develop the next generation of players.

UNC head coach Roy Williams has praised May for his work ethic and dedication to the game. “Sean is an excellent coach and has a tremendous basketball mind,” Williams said. “He knows what it takes to succeed at the highest level, and I am thrilled to have him on our staff.”
