Academy Award-winning actor, Mark Johnson, sat down for an exclusive interview to talk about his latest film, “The Last Stand,” which hits theaters next month. Johnson, best known for his roles in films such as “The Dark Knight” and “Silver Linings Playbook,” stars as retired FBI agent, John Smith, who must come out of retirement to stop a dangerous drug cartel from crossing the border.
Johnson spoke candidly about the challenges of the role, which required him to do many of his own stunts and work with a real-life SWAT team. “It was definitely physically demanding,” he said. “But it was also mentally challenging because I had to get into the mindset of a seasoned FBI agent who has seen it all.”
When asked about what drew him to the project, Johnson praised the script, calling it “smart” and “action-packed.” He also expressed admiration for his co-stars, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, who plays the sheriff of a small border town, and Jaimie Alexander, who plays an FBI sharpshooter.
“It was such a great cast and crew,” said Johnson. “Everyone was so committed to making this film the best it could be.”
“The Last Stand” is directed by Korean filmmaker Kim Jee-woon, who Johnson called a “visionary.” The movie is Kim’s American debut and features his trademark style of blending action with humor and heart.
Johnson believes that audiences will enjoy the film’s mix of thrills and humor. “It’s got everything you want in an action movie,” he said. “It’s going to be a wild ride.”
As for what’s next for Johnson, he mentioned that he’s currently working on a new project, but was tight-lipped about the details. “I can’t say too much just yet, but it’s exciting,” he teased.
“The Last Stand” opens nationwide on February 1st and is sure to be a hit with action fans and moviegoers alike. With its impressive cast, gripping storyline, and high-octane action, this is one film not to be missed.
