The Huskies of Northern State University had a historic night on the basketball court, as they set a new school record with a 100-point victory against a conference opponent.

The game took place on January 22, 2022, as the Huskies hosted the Bemidji State Beavers in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matchup. From the very beginning of the game, it was clear that the Huskies were in complete control. They outscored the Beavers 32-10 in the first quarter alone and continued to dominate throughout the rest of the game.

The Huskies’ offense was on fire, as they shot an incredible 65.9% from the field and 53.3% from beyond the arc. They also recorded 30 assists on their 48 made field goals, showcasing their selfless and team-oriented style of play. The team was led by senior guard Jill Conrad, who finished the game with 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Junior forward Mackenzie Dahl also had a standout performance, scoring 19 points and grabbing 7 rebounds.

On the defensive end, the Huskies held the Beavers to just 28.8% shooting from the field and 16.7% from three-point range. They also forced 23 turnovers and recorded 12 steals, showing their ability to pressure their opponents and create scoring opportunities from turnovers.

The final score of the game was 123-23, giving the Huskies a 100-point victory and setting a new school record for largest margin of victory. The previous record was set in 1992, when the Huskies defeated Dakota State by 89 points.

After the game, head coach Paula Krueger praised her team for their impressive performance. “I’m incredibly proud of our team,” she said. “They played with great energy and intensity from start to finish, and they really did a fantastic job executing our game plan. This was a complete team effort, and it’s exciting to see all of our hard work pay off in such a big way.”

The Huskies’ impressive victory is sure to boost their confidence as they continue their conference schedule. With a record of 11-7 (6-7 NSIC) on the season, they’ll look to build on this momentum and continue to improve as a team. Their next game is on January 28, as they travel to Sioux Falls to take on the Augustana Vikings.
